Smart House

Remodel. Retrofit. Reuse. In contrast to last year’s net zero living experience, this year’s Green House will take a 180-degree look at applying the Smart Living lifestyle to an existing home.
Within walking distance to the heart of Boulder, Colorado, the Green House program will be held in a beautiful, five bedroom, five bathroom Victorian style home. The house is the perfect stage for Boulder-based, internationally acclaimed “green” architect George Watt, to indoctrinate editors into the do’s and dont’s of making any home Smart when it comes tooptimal energy efficiency and cost savings for any home.
At the Green House, Watt will conduct a real-time energy audit on this 6,500 square foot house showcasing the latest and most innovative “green” products and services to reduce energy consumption. Watt will provide editors with the road map to making a real difference while quantifying the eco-friendly investments in both cost savings and environmental impact.
Watt is also the brainchild behind last year’s net zero Green House destination at the SpringLeaf community in Boulder, Colorado.
The Smart Zone Experience:
The Greenhouse is comprised of four categories called Smart Zones: each its own hub of activity where products come to life. Based on your unique brand, product or service, we will customize a press experience to not only get ink, but to ensure the right message reaches the right consumer.
Smart Zones
Transportation | Food | Energy | Home
Transportation. Walk, bike, drive, scooter. With double-digit gas prices looming, the Green House will discuss various modes of transport for different needs. Here we’ll introduce editors to what’s next in transportation modes. Picture a group of top journalists’ driving the latest fleet of electric cars through beautiful Estee’s National Park.
Food. Mix, whisk and sauté local and sustainable foods using the latest eco-friendly kitchen gadgets and products. Join editors in sourcing dinner ingredients from the country’s largest farmer’s market. The kitchen is the perfect zone for appliances, cooking equipment, food, and beverage. Get tips from local-vore, organic food experts and learn about the newest trends in “green” eating.
Energy. A hot topic for sure. At this year’s Green House we’re talking about saving energy just about anywhere – in the home, on the road, at the store and how to realistically reduce personal energy consumption. In addition, we’ll be engaging in conversation about our energy future with some of the country’s leading renewable energy experts.
Home. Here we’ll cover everything from eco-friendly couches, flooring and window shading systems to water saving products and small space vegetable gardens. Editors will take in tips on simplification in design and spatial planning. The living space can host virtually any company’s product or service available or nearly ready for today’s consumer.
